Biography

Anthony E. Thomas was born in San Francisco, California and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He is a retired Major of the United States Army Chemical Corps, where he specialized in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Operations and Hazardous Material Management.

Anthony enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Medic and served in Germany with the 1-35 Armored Battalion, 1st Armored Division, and deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina. After completion of a 4-year stint on Active Duty, Anthony enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard while attending Western Michigan University. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps through the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Western Michigan University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Military Science. Anthony retired from the U.S. Army in 202o. Anthony is currently the Executive Director of Conservation Corps New Mexico and serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Las Cruces Green Chamber of Commerce and Board of Directors Member for the Farmers and Craft Market of Las Cruces.
